Julia Press Simmons has penned a page turning novel of suspense and drama. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. What was going to happen to Violet and was she going to be able to see through Kyle? Or was she just willing to put up with anything to get out of her current situation?
A wonderful follow-up to her debut novel Strawberry Mansion: A Philadelphia Story. I am waiting patiently for her final installment of the Philadelphia Story Series - Violet.
Another Job Well Done.

Author of If It Don't Hurt... It Ain't Love
Instead of giving the reader luxury cars, couture from international designers and an infinite supply of drug money, Simmons gives you bra straps, bathroom beat-downs and sexual predators who think nothing of paying minors for instant gratification. What makes Begonia Brown such a compelling read is Simmons' ability to show the vulgarities of inner-city struggles without being vulgar.

This story did not have a dull moment and I fell in love with these girls hoping that they would come out of the hell they were in. I guess I'll have to find out in Part 2 in Violet Brown's side of the story. Five stars for Ms. Simmons.

Ms. Press-Simmons writes in an unaffected, straight from the gut style that keeps the reader caught up in the story. The language is raw and real, but, the story would not have had the same impact if different words had been used. The author also does not offer any fairytale ending to the story. She makes it as real as possible to the very end.
